Creek Affairs – A Story Of Love Gone Sour

Creek Affairs Part 2

Every year during my birthday, I went to the River prior to the hints Olotu gives me a night before and picked up my birthday gifts. He gave me biscuits and edibles. As I grew older, he gave me things I could easily hide from Mother.

When I first had my period at age 13, Olotu threw a big celebration and I was floored. He invited his Magical friends to my dream world and it was a grand party. It was at the party I saw Olotu for who he really was. A hulk of a man with a trident seated on a Throne. He was a King. He corrected me by saying “I am not just a King, Tari, I am The King.”

A few months to my 16th Birthday, He proposed to me and I accepted to be his Queen. Truth was, I had no interest in any other man. Olotu was all I wanted. My Hero.

On my 16th Birthday, I was so excited to sleep off because I had met with Olotu earlier on by the Riverside and he promised me a surprise on the other side. I was so eager, I retired to bed Immediately it was sundown with the excuse of “I feel sick.” Olotu threw me a big celebration and officially made me his Bride. We consummated our marriage and I felt fulfilled.

He was my first and only. I would sleep and see myself in another reality — The one where I was married to Olotu. He thrilled me. He was always there when I needed him. If I was sad, I only had to call his name and shut my eyes and he would come to me. He was perfect.

On one of our meetings by the Riverside, I begged him to come see Mother since he was here in person. He bluntly refused with the excuse of being busy. It was not the first time, anyway. On many occasions, I had begged him to see Mother, but, he always came up with one excuse or another. This never bothered me. I was deeply in love.

On my 19th Birthday, I was already getting choked in my relationship with Olotu. He came whenever I shut my eyes to sleep. I had no second of good sleep without Olotu coming to me for sex. I got so haggard as a result of insufficient sleep I was slowly losing my mind. At a point, I depended on Caffeine to stay awake. I had already birthed 4 children — three boys and a girl — for him.

I had had enough. I could not take it anymore, so, I told Mother about it. Mother burst out crying and ran off to the Village’s Chief Priest. She kept crying “Apo! Apo! Na Spirit Husband, o! Na Spirit Husband, o!” while running. I was seated under the Mango tree in my Father’s compound waiting for Mother to come back with help, when Olotu tore my clothes and forcefully penetrated me right under the Mango tree. I was so hurt I wept.

He was so mad at me for telling Mother and he promised to make my life miserable. I heard Mother scream my name and that was when I came to reality. I had slept off. Mother said she had been trying to wake me up for more than thirty minutes. That meant Olotu was never there; he showed up in my dream.

While we were talking, the Chief Priest arrived. Thing is, Mother ran ahead of him. The Chief Priest saw me and prostrated, instantly. “My Goddess!!!”, he called aloud to me. “Goddess”? Mother was astonished. I was speechless.

Olotu was the Deity he worshipped and there was nothing he could do for me. The deity he worshipped? Strike that! Olotu was the Deity of Deities. It was clear that there was nothing The Chief Priest could do to help us. He would end up dead if he tried to.
